70% of the free sugar we consume comes from processed foods. It has been shown that there is an excessive consumption of this type of sugar on a daily basis, especially in the diet intended for children. For decades the scientific community has focused on the relationship between the types of fats present in the diet with obesity and cardiovascular disease. Recently, attention has also been directed towards the role of sugars. A key message, in general when promoting healthy eating in general, would be to eat natural foods and avoid processed foods as much as possible. Not only because of the sugar, but also because of the salt or unsaturated fats that usually accompany these types of products.
