Complexity medicine or precision medicine, tries to integrate genomics together with technologies derived from biomedical engineering. Omic techniques help to better understand the interaction between genes and the environment with the development of certain diseases. Complexity medicine allows for more reliable and personalized diagnoses, and new therapies with greater effectiveness in the treatment of a wide range of cardiovascular, neurodegenerative and cancer diseases. The future of medicine requires an integration of clinical data with medical images and molecular patient data, within a personalized clinical record. For this reason, improving the prognosis and development of a disease requires a redefinition of healthcare models.
