Behind almost all our daily actions, there are telecommunications. In 2020, this sector accounted for more than 3% of our country's GDP and employed more than half a million people. The immediate future will be the widespread implementation of 5G technology that will make everything and everyone connected at high speed. Telecommunications played a decisive role during the worst months of the coronavirus pandemic, enabling distance work and education. The influence they have on our lives is the object of study and debate in society and, of course, in the university. The future of telecommunications is difficult to predict, no one would have said just twenty years ago that we would live glued to our devices. Whether evolution is for the benefit of all will depend on how well we use them.
