In 1952, the British researcher Rosalind Franklin obtained an image of DNA using X-ray techniques, which was key to demonstrating for the first time what its structure should be like, which until then had been a mystery. Today, scientists are investigating how to edit DNA to correct errors and cure genetic diseases. Advances in the study of DNA allow us to know everything from what happened on earth millions of years ago to predicting which genetic diseases our offspring could inherit.
